About Us

Shona Hunting Adventures started in 2005 when Johann Veldsman and his wife, Vera, turned their ten years experience in the tourism industry into a new venture. They focus their attention on providing an affordable hunting experience with a personal service that is second to none.

Vera grew up on a cattle farm, Avondschaduw, in Namibia and has a B.Com Informatics degree she obtained at the University of Pretoria.

Johann comes from a long family history of hunters. His father worked as a geologist prospecting all over Namibia. This resulted in Johann spending most of his early childhood in the bush. From an early age the rules of the bush and hunting with respect towards the animals, was instilled in him. He studied sound engineering at the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

Their ability to entertain and work with people, landed them in the tourism business as restaurateurs, co-owning Spitzkoppe Restaurant in Hentiesbaai, a town along the Namibian coastline. After managing it for five years, they returned to the bush, building Ondundu Wilderness Lodge and managing it for a further five years.

The next step was to start Shona Hunting Adventures. After qualifying as a Professional Hunter, Johann's dream of guiding clients on hunting safaris became a reality.
The combination of their experience in tourism, a personal love for the bush and hunting, ensures that every client will experience the safari of a lifetime.

In December 2004 a new addition was made to the family with the birth of their daughter Zoë. She now also experiences what it is like to grow up in the bush, close to Nature.
